Empowering Voices: A Weekend of Advocacy in Our State Capital
Earlier this year Tresco Leadership traveled to Santa Fe to participate in the 2024 Las Cruces Day in Santa Fe events hosted by the Greater Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce. This weekend was dedicated to raising voices of individuals and organizations to advocate for change and continued support in Dona Ana County.
The weekend kicked off with New Mexico State University (NMSU) Alumni networking event where over 200 attendees networked and celebrated the contributions of NMSU. The next day was filled with workshops and panel discussions with a deeper dive into grassroots advocacy and legislative initiatives from NMSU, Las Cruces Public Schools, Dona Ana County and City of Las Cruces.
One of the highlights of the weekend was the opportunity to meet with elected officials and policy makers at the Governor’s mansion. Our team had the chance to provide our thanks to Governor Michelle Grisham Lujan for her continued support in our mission.
On the last day we took our advocacy efforts to the State Capital. We meet with various legislators and shared the work of Tresco that is present in 12 counties throughout New Mexico. It was a pleasure to sit down with Lieutenant Governor Howie Morales and share the growth of our programs and future steps to reach more families and individuals who are in need of our services.
As the weekend drew to a close, we left with a renewed sense of purpose and determination. It is a reminder that our voices do matter and together, we have the power to create awareness and change for our communities.
