Disability: Part of the Equity Equation

Tresco hosted its Annual National Disability Employment Awareness Month Breakfast on October 11, 2022. This years theme was Disability: Part of the Equity Equation. Many community and business leaders along with Tresco staff gathered to celebrate the many and varied contributions that persons with varying abilities add to workplaces and communities. It was a pleasure to have Tresco Board Member, Rick Jackson, emcee the event and share his personal and professional experiences with Tresco.

TrescoWorks management team members Luis Rios, Greg Block and Andy Taylor discussed the ways businesses could be part of our mission, how their team could be a business solution and the breath and depth of our TrescoWorks footprint throughout New Mexico.

Shaun Adcock, Repair Technician, gave testimonial on what his job meant to him and experiences he had gained during his time at Tresco. “Do not be afraid,” is Adcock’s advice to others with disabilities when they have a chance to speak out. “Take the opportunity like I did to achieve something greater than yourself.” Shaun who was diagnosed with a hearing loss at age 2 said he doesn’t think of his hearing loss as a disability, “I look at having a different ability,” he said. Shaun’s energy and enthusiasm lit up the room and Tresco is honored to have Shaun and all person’s with varying abilities part of the team.

When people with varying abilities work in their communities everyone succeeds. With the right job and support, everyone can work!
